1. Spuul

Hailed India’s own Netflix, the Singapore-based movie portal houses a whole lot of Bollywood films. You can watch some of them for free without registering on the site. The entire catalog is accessible for Rs 150 a month. There is very limited regional and TV content for now. If you were into the 90s TV shows, Malgudi Days, Fauji and Dekh Bhai Dekh are up on Spuul.

2. iTunes

Apple extended its iTunes Store service, where you can buy or rent films, to India in 2012. From the latest releases to the classics, you can look up films across genres. It not only offers Bollywood but also regional content – Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi.

Most movies (HD quality) are available for rent between Rs 80-Rs 150 and for purchase between Rs. 90-Rs. 290. Very few Hindi titles are priced upwards of Rs 290.

3. Hotstar

The only free platform in this list, Star India’s Hotstar has a whole bunch of films, old and new, besides a massive variety of TV shows. You won’t need to register to start watching. Ad break is the only minor irritant.

4. BoxTV

A Times Internet offering, BoxTV lets you stream quite a few free films, without signing up. For premium content, it will need you to register at Rs 199/month or Rs 2000/year. There’s Bollywood, Hollywood, regional content (10+ languages) and TV shows available.

5. Ogle

Ogle houses Indian and international films as well as TV shows. It offers daily, monthly, and yearly plans to pick from. They may not be always open for purchase. You’ll need to go back on their site once in a while, to see when they’re open for registration. You can also buy a subscription on Snapdeal.

The monthly plan of Rs 249 is the most availed of all plans. You can, alternatively, try out their daily plan of Rs 49 or yearly plan of Rs 2400.

  3. That’s an exhaustive list. Although Ever since Netflix came, I only use that. In the limited plan it has very few interesting movies but. I’m thinking of switching to the higher plan.
