Karan Johar is back as writer-director after four years with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, a story of love, friendships, heartbreaks and heartaches, as apparent from the title and the teaser.
The opening of the teaser with Ranbir Kapoor intensely lip-syncing to Tu Mera Safar sets the mood for what’s to follow. And the title track is the highlight. Compositions with pianos and saxophones are a rarity these days. But then great music is something you take for granted in a Karan Johar film.
The trailer that released yesterday aroused expectations further, giving a clearer picture of the characters and what to expect.
Ranbir showed me traces of “Tamasha” and “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” but I’m sure there’s more to him in the film than just that.
You might like: ‘Why isn’t Ranbir doing good films anymore?’
I hope “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” is an answer to the critics who’ve been holding his recent string of flops against him.
He’s never disappointed as a performer. There’s little of Aishwarya mouthing lines in the trailer. But “mujhse pehli si mohabbat mere Mehboob na mang” stayed with me. Anushka Sharma seems to be doing the same thing film after film. (NH10, though, was a refreshing change). Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan steals the show with his expressions and just a line. (@MNS, you might be calling for trouble from his female fans if you don’t exempt him from your threat 😉
But there’s more! Karan revealed in a recent interview at the Toronto International Film Festival that Shah Rukh too has a role, though brief, in the film. I’d have been surprised if he didn’t. He, apparently, plays Saba’s (Aishwarya Rai) husband in “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.”
Was that Shahrukh in the trailer?
The guy Ranbir is talking to. “Aasan hai kya aisi mohabbat karna jiske badle mohabbat na mile? (“Is it easy to love in return for not being loved back?”)
We’ll find out on October 28.
Release it already! Ae Intezar Hai Mushkil!
