It was one of the exciting Monday mornings as the 91st Academy Awards took place in the heart of Hollywood: the spectacular Dolby Theatre. Drifting away from usual, the Oscar night saw some big changes, varying from the absence of a host (a first, since 1989) to some unpredictable winnings. Let’s quickly get to the major highlights at the 2019 Oscars as the world continues to squabble over social media:
1) Killer Queen(s)
The ceremony kicked off on a high note as Adam Lambert ROCKED THE WORLD with Queen. The high-voltage performance was accompanied with the awesome trio of Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, and Amy Poehler. They were not the official hosts but they entertained plenty with a chain of zingers.

2) Superhero Evans
Without any Oscar win, or nomination, Chris Evans won the hearts of everyone. As soon as Regina King stepped forward to collect Oscar for Supporting Role, Evans saved her from falling off the stairs as her heels got tangled in her dress. Chris not only showed true Gentlemanship but also unleashed his inner superhero.
3) Crazy Thing Called Academy
It was a big punch to the gut when the Sound Editing and Sound Mixing awards were given to the Queen Biopic. Damien Chazelle’s First Man and John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place bit the dust as the inapt voting by Academy voters compelled everyone to question the crazy selection criteria of the winners.

4) Bradley, Ga Ga
Ceremony’s biggest shocker came from Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s overtly intimate performance of their song Shallow from A Star is Born. Towards the end, Cooper stood up from his seat and sat next to Gaga, giving rise to speculations regarding their relationship.
5) Green Book, Spiked!
After his adrenaline pumping hug to Nick Fury, Spike Lee SPIKED the Oscar Best Picture winner Green Book as he attempted to exit the ceremony as soon as the film was announced. Later when he was asked about Green Book, he said he needs more champagne.

6) Olivia is the Queen (too)
Giving the best Oscar acceptance speech of the night, Olivia Colman amused everyone with her antics as she acknowledged all the helping hands of her life, showed admiration for the likely Winner of the category (Glenn Close), along with showering sugary kisses on Lady Gaga.
7) Pad-Women
Guneet Monga’s Period. End of Sentence made history by winning the Oscar for Best Documentary Short. Depicting the fight against the deep rooted stigma of menstruation in India, the Oscar win came as a surprise as expectations were quite low.
